"Evanovich...with a dash of CSI." - Publishers Weekly (review of Lucky Stiff)

Everyone Has a Hidden Talent

For Lucky O'Toole it's murder...solving it.

Surviving in Sin City takes cunning, a pair of five-inch heels, and a wiseass attitude. Lucky has mastered them all and has a pair of legs she uses to kick butt and turn heads.

As the Chief Problem Solver for the Babylon, Las Vegas's most over-the-top destination, mischief is in her job description.

She's good at her job.

She's less good at life. But who has time for a life when there's a killer on the loose?

LUCKY BANG

Having a blast on the 4th of July in Vegas takes on a whole new meaning for Lucky O'Toole, head of customer relations for the Babylon, a major Strip property, when she discovers a bomb in a friend's restaurant and narrowly escapes becoming part of the "explosive entertainment." And this wasn't the first time. Years ago, when Lucky was small, she'd had another narrow escape. Could the two be related? Missing dynamite, an old grudge, whispers from the past, force Lucky to delve into dark secrets best left alone. And when her father disappears, things become personal.

A light, funny, romantic mystery providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh.

AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS

Why did you decide to write humor?

I'm not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky, books, specifically to Lucky's own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I've found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good--or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.

The Lucky O'Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?

When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

PRAISE FOR THE LUCKY O'TOOLE VEGAS ADVENTURE SERIES

"Lucky's story is funny, fast-paced, exuberant and brilliantly realized." - Susan Wiggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Get ready to win big--with a novel that will keep you glued to the pages all the way to the end." - Brenda Novak, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author
"More fun than a winning streak in Vegas." - Diane Mott Davidson, New York Times bestselling author

Lucky Bang A Lucky O'Toole Original Novella Book 2 edition by Deborah Coonts Literature Fiction eBooks

I am not a fan of the half books that author seem to be putting out in a way to keep their fans hooked without really moving a story line along. I tend to just skip them and wait until a full-length novel is published. With that being said, I could not avoid this book. I love the Lucky O’Toole series.

You have mystery, you have naughty, you have interesting reoccurring characters and you have Ms. Lucky O’Toole the head of customer relations at Babylon, a major hotel on the Las Vegas strip. Right there, that should tell you that her 18-hour days are not what you would call normal. She works for the big boss which is also her father. Her mother is a madam who just also happens to be pregnant again with the big boss’s child. Lucky’s ex-boyfriend is a straight female impersonator that is currently on a world tour and her current boyfriend is a chef at the Burger Palais.

I know, it sounds strange, but if you have been following Lucky’s life from the very first book, this is not strange at all.

In this very short, 94’ish page novella, Lucky is chasing after old dynamite that just might be leading her to her father’s old flame and a possible long lost brother. Of course, life is not that easy especially when her father goes missing and half of Vegas is attempting to fill Lucky in on the past.

Trying to put the pieces together before all heck breaks loose keeps Lucky on her toes and away from the radio, which is playing a love song just for her.

I really enjoy this series and always look forward to the next Lucky adventure.

Lucky Bang A Lucky O'Toole Original Novella Book 2 edition by Deborah Coonts Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Other reviews mentioned issues with too much sex, no idea where that comes from. This series is entertaining and sex is mentioned and discussed, but nothing offensive.
Deb Coonts cannot write a bad Lucky O'Toole book. What I so enjoy is the fact that I had the opportunity to meet the author and while she is NOTHING like Lucky physically, she is all brains and wit and perhaps that combination just makes me enjoy her books even more.

Thanks Deborah, for another fab book!
I've read the entire series about Lucky O'Toole, the daughter of a casino mogul in Las Vegas. She's quite the complex gal, is Lucky, and here in this short volume she's trying to avoid getting her beloved resort damaged or worse by a bomb. Does she save the day? Well, this isn't the last book of the series. You figure it out. And while you're at it, read Lucky Bang!

LUCKY BANG (LUCKY O'TOOLE VEGAS ADVENTURE SERIES)
For a Novella this book had it all mystery, romance and just a hint of what the Big Boss was like in Vegas back in the day!! And as always Lucky was amusing!! The men are scrumptious and the story added more flavor to what is going on with her & Teddy & the French Chef what's not to like about a sexy man who cooks for you at will!!! This book made me laugh & smile and wonder when the next full novel will come out because Vegas baby!!!
What a fun read! Deborah Coonts offers fans of the Lucky O'Toole series a novella that starts with a bang and doesn't let up until you've turned the last page. It's enough to hold me over until the next novel in the series is published. Loved it! Can't wait to see where things go with Lucky and her growing list of admirers. This series has become an auto-buy/read for me. Lucky Bang could be a stand-alone but I recommend reading the series in order.
If you liked the other Lucky books, you'll like this one. Personally I'm annoyed with the constant typos; it's like no one bothered to proofread the book before publishing. Not sure if I'll read any more in the series. Also I couldn't figure out how this book takes place right after the previous book, but the previous book took place at Halloween and this one is on July 4th.
This is another fun installment in the tale of Lucky O'Toole's Vegas adventures. The shortened format focuses the plot details but allows Coonts to add in the humor that brings this series to life. The story begins with a bomb explosion at a Vegas restaurant that reminds Lucky of a similar incident when she was a child. Could the two be related? The trail leads to her father's past and the struggle to rid Vegas of its mob ties. Solving the mystery leads to a showdown during a casino fireworks display on the Fourth of July with explosive results. I was frustrated that I was unable to purchase these ebooks for my iPad, then I discovered the free for iPad app from !
